1937 U.S. Social Security system makes its 1st benefit payment. According to the Bible of my friend Stevil, the payment went to Ida Mae Fuller who lived in Brattleboro. The check was for $22.54. Mrs. Fuller passsed away in 1975 at the age of 100.
